When people talk about logistics, they usually think about trucks on roads or ships carrying goods across the seas. But there’s another crucial part of the logistics world that often gets overlooked: what happens inside the warehouses. Abhishek Chaturvedi has made it his mission to highlight this aspect through his book, Intralogistics Simplified. With more than 24 years of experience in the field, Abhishek uses his knowledge to bring this important topic to a wider audience.

The Missing Link in Logistics

While logistics costs in India are often discussed, Abhishek realized that most conversations leave out what goes on inside the storage facilities. This area, known as intralogistics, is where the actual movement and handling of goods take place within the four walls of a warehouse or factory. Abhishek found it surprising that very few people in the industry were talking about how to make these processes better and more cost-effective.

To fill this gap, he wrote Intralogistics Simplified, aiming to make the topic clear and straightforward. His goal was to create a guide that professionals in supply chain management and students could easily understand, making it a helpful resource for those looking to strengthen their skills in this field.

The Road to Writing the Book

Writing this book wasn’t an easy task for Abhishek. He had been thinking about it for nearly two years before he finally took the plunge, spurred on by a challenge from his life coach, Mitesh Khatri. To keep himself accountable, he announced his book on LinkedIn, setting a goal to publish it on his son Aryan’s birthday, March 26th, 2023.

What Abhishek initially thought would be a simple task turned into a tough project. His vast experience in intralogistics didn’t automatically translate into easy writing. To make sure readers stayed engaged, he decided to add a fictional story to the content—based on real events—that brings the concepts to life. This approach helped turn what could be a dry topic into something more relatable and engaging.

A Strong Message

The core idea of Intralogistics Simplified is clear: to have a robust supply chain, you must pay attention to the smaller steps that make up the whole process. If the work inside the warehouse isn’t running smoothly, it can affect the entire chain. Abhishek’s book breaks down these concepts so that even those new to the subject can grasp them easily.

He believes that by improving the way we handle goods within warehouses, businesses can cut costs and boost efficiency. This change could play a big part in making India’s logistics systems more competitive on a global level.

What’s Next for Abhishek?

Abhishek isn’t stopping here. He continues to share his thoughts and expertise at various industry events and through social media. His dedication to improving the supply chain industry remains strong, and he plans to keep educating others about the importance of intralogistics.

While his next book project is still under wraps, one thing is certain—Abhishek will continue to be a driving force in making logistics more efficient and accessible for all.

Join Abhishek in his mission!

His book is a must-read for all industry practitioners in the supply chain domain and students wanting to make a career in the supply chain.

Also, the Government of India, especially the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and the Department For Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), should encourage such initiatives to spread know-how about niche, lesser-known but extremely important aspects of supply chain management.

This is very relevant when our Prime Minister, Shree Narendra Modi, spearheads the overhauling of India’s logistics infrastructure through various revolutionary initiatives such as Gati Shakti, National Logistics Policy, Bharat Mala Project, and so on.
